Asian Koel

Asian Koel is an illusive of all birds but makes a very distinct sweet sounds of 'cooo'. The male birds are black in colour while the females are in shades of brown and grey, with both the birds having red colour eyes. They camouflage themselves so effectively that it is difficult to locate them and thus makes them illusive. This trait also helps the mother Koel bird to lay her eggs in some other bird's nest, which is called brood parasitism.

Koels are eat fruits and insects and are also know to steal eggs of smaller birds at times.

They are most active during the summer months and everyday you can hear them sing especially early morning. It helps us sail through the sweltering heat of summer with its sweet "cooing" sound while relishing sweet mangoes, sitting in garden - a nature's gift to humankind.
